Tupande Biochar Control Room Operator (Fixed-term)

One Acre Fund seeks a fixed-term Process Control Room (PLC/HMI) Operator to monitor and support biochar production lines in Sagana, Kenya.

What you'll do

• Monitor PLC/HMI displays and process dashboards for both production lines
• Identify deviations, alarms, or anomalies and alert the Shift Supervisor
• Log process data, alarms, and system events at regular intervals
• Support Shift Supervisors with performance tracking and production reporting
• Assist with system start-up/shutdown sequences and escalate recurring faults
• Cover breaks for other operators on a rotating basis
• Provide hands-on support to operations, maintenance, feedstock, or QA/QC teams
• Respond to incidents, equipment stoppages, or surge workloads
• Work in a hot, dusty industrial environment with regular line walkthroughs

Qualifications

• Certificate or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, IT, or Process Control preferred
• Experience with PLC/HMI systems or SCADA strongly preferred
• Prior experience in multiple production roles in manufacturing
• Strong attention to detail, adaptability, and clear communication
• Willingness to work rotating 9-hour shifts, including nights
