Tupande Production Supervisor (Fixed-Term)

One Acre Fund seeks a Production Supervisor to oversee shift operations at its Tupande biochar pyrolysis lines in Sagana, Kenya, for a fixed-term contract of 3–6 months.

Who can apply

• Citizens or permanent residents of Kenya
• 2–3 years of supervisory or team-leader experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
• Familiarity with PLC-based process equipment; prior experience in pyrolysis, biomass processing, or thermal processing operations is strongly preferred
• Experience managing mixed teams of skilled operators and independent contractors/casual labor
• Basic data entry and reporting skills in Google Sheets or Excel
• Valid First Aid certification (St. John’s Ambulance Kenya or equivalent) is required for the Safety Marshal designation

What you'll do

• Lead pre-shift briefings covering safety, production targets, issues, and task assignments
• Monitor and respond to line performance deviations, faults, or safety events across two pyrolysis lines
• Coordinate with Carbonization Operators, Maintenance Officers, Forklift Operators, Lab Analysts, and Control Room Operators
• Manage staggered breaks to ensure continuous line coverage
• Conduct shift handover including PLC parameter review, equipment condition sign-off, and outstanding issues
• Supervise packaging tasks: bagging, weighing, sealing, and batch ID labeling
• Coach and develop team members; escalate performance or capability gaps
• Act as on-shift safety steward, ensuring PPE compliance and addressing unsafe behavior
• Provide accurate per-shift data to the MRV Coordinator for compilation
