Rwanda External Relations Senior Manager

GiveDirectly is hiring a Rwanda External Relations Senior Manager to lead government relations, partnerships, fundraising, and public engagement from Rwanda, reporting to the Country Director.⁠​‌‌​‌‌‌​​‌‌​​​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​​‌‌‌​‌​‌‌​⁠

What it offers

• Leadership of external relations, government engagement, partnership development, fundraising, and crisis management for GiveDirectly’s Rwanda Country Office
• Central role in shaping external positioning and securing financial/institutional support to scale cash transfer programs

Who can apply

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in government relations, partnership development, or public affairs—preferably in an NGO or international development context
• Detailed understanding and demonstrated experience working with national-level government officials in Rwanda
• Experience with key donors such as US Government, FCDO, and large private foundations is preferred
• Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; working knowledge of French is an asset

What you'll do

• Lead government and stakeholder engagement, including building high-level relationships and securing approvals
• Develop and manage strategic partnership pipelines and fundraising opportunities
• Serve as external ambassador at national events, media engagements, and donor briefings
• Manage crisis response and public relations challenges with transparency and sound judgment
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and ensure compliance with government directives and protocols
• Deliver monthly updates to senior leadership on stakeholder relations, public sentiment, partnership progress, and crisis issues
