African Union Commission Chairperson’s Youth Envoy 2026 (Full-Time Leadership Position)

The African Union Commission is seeking a Youth Envoy to serve as a high-level advocate for African youth, promoting their inclusion in continental policy and decision-making for a fixed two-year term based in Addis Ababa.

What it offers

• Fixed-term contract for two years, renewable for another term
• Position grade P3 with no direct or indirect reports
• Located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Who can apply

• Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Information Technology or a related field
• Seven years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s OR ten years with a Master’s
• Three years at expert and/or senior level
• Demonstrated understanding of youth empowerment frameworks and initiatives
• Proven advocacy, leadership, and multi-stakeholder engagement experience

What you'll do

• Champion AU youth policies and priorities, including the African Youth Charter and the AU 1 Million Next Level Initiative
• Amplify youth voices and promote their participation in AU policy dialogues and continental initiatives
• Mobilize partnerships and advocate for youth development and empowerment
• Serve as a strategic liaison between youth and AU leadership
• Lead advocacy campaigns and coordinate youth participation in AU-led events
• Advocate for greater youth representation across AU institutions and processes
• Coordinate closely with the Women, Gender and Youth Directorate (WGYD)
