Head of Emergency Team – Kenya

MSF Eastern Africa is recruiting a Head of Emergency Team in Kenya to lead emergency preparedness, response, and strategic coordination for MSF Ubuntu.

What it offers

• Strategic leadership of MSF Ubuntu’s emergency prevention, preparedness, and response activities in line with medical and operational standards
• Oversight of policies, systems, and tools (surveillance, early warning, contingency planning, surge capacity, scenario stocks)
• Line management of the emergency team and coordination with country programs and MSF entities

Who can apply

• At least 8+ years of field/program experience in medical humanitarian aid
• Senior management experience in policy formulation, security, HR, finance, cross-cultural communication
• Fluency/excellent level of written and spoken English; French, Swahili, and/or Arabic is an advantage
• MSF experience as Emergency Coordinator/Emergency Manager is desirable

What you'll do

• Define and implement emergency preparedness and response strategy using a disaster management cycle approach
• Lead exploratory assignments, program openings/closings, and continuous context scanning
• Provide strategic and technical guidance to emergency team members and country programs
• Ensure responses meet MSF medical, operational, ethical, and safeguarding standards
• Promote learning through After Action Reviews and post-intervention evaluations
• Represent MSF Ubuntu in internal and external humanitarian forums
