Program Consultant (East Africa) - Remote

PILnet is a global NGO offering a Program Consultant role in East Africa, focusing on legal support for civil society organizations. This is a remote consultancy with a monthly salary range of USD 1,300–1,600, requiring candidates to be based in East Africa for coordination. Who can apply

This role is open to candidates with 2–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in nonprofit, public interest law, or international development. A degree in Law, Political Science, International Relations, or related fields is strongly preferred. Strong relationship-building, research, and communication skills are essential. Experience with civil society organizations, pro bono initiatives, or legal support programs is highly valued.

What you'll do

• Develop and strengthen partnerships with civil society organizations, law firms, and legal stakeholders in East Africa.
• Assess and scope legal needs of civil society organizations and facilitate pro bono legal support access.
• Manage Global Clearinghouse matters, including matter descriptions, lawyer referrals, and coordination.
• Identify emerging legal trends and contribute to strategic program responses.
• Design and manage program activities (webinars, workshops, roundtables) and represent PILnet at regional events.
• Support donor reports, proposals, and internal communications.
