East Africa Human Rights Program 2027

The East Africa Human Rights Program (EAHRP) 2027 is a regional training program for human rights educators and defenders in Arusha, Tanzania.

What it offers

• Online preparatory phase: December 2026 to January 10, 2027 (self-paced, approximately 12–15 hours over 5 weeks)
• In-person training: February 4–16, 2027 (11-day intensive training)
• Language: English
• Participation fee: $5,000 CAD (includes training fees, accommodation and meals, educational materials, and medical insurance covering emergencies)
• Bursaries: Limited full and partial bursaries may be available

Who can apply

• Human rights workers, defenders, activists, and educators from civil society organizations, institutions, and government agencies
• Representatives of NGOs, community-based organizations, or individuals not affiliated with organizations
• Organizations must:
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to human rights
  • Have a track record in mobilization and effective action
  • Be involved in human rights education activities
  • Commit to providing opportunities to apply gained knowledge

     • Memorandum of Agreement signed by the candidate and their organization’s director/chair
     • Two signed, headed letters of reference/support
     • For organizational applicants: a brochure and/or mission statement describing the organization
