African Union Peace Fund Opens 2026 Call for Applications

The African Union Peace Fund invites eligible beneficiaries to apply for financing to support peace-related initiatives under its programmatic windows.

What it offers

• Funding for peace-related initiatives aligned with three thematic windows:
  • Mediation and Preventive Diplomacy
  • Institutional Capacity
  • Peace Support Operations

Who can apply

• Member States of the African Union
• Regional Economic Communities (RECs)
• Regional Mechanisms (RMs)
• The Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) Department of the African Union Commission

• Submit applications directly to the Peace Fund Secretariat via email at peacefund@africa-union.org
• The subject line of the email must read: "Application for Funding under the AU Peace Fund Programmatic Windows – Funding Cycle 2028"
• The application period is open from 1 August to 31 August 2026
• After submission, applications undergo a structured assessment process, including a preliminary review and, for eligible applicants, an invitation to submit full project proposals for technical evaluation and ranking
