The Borderless Africa Feminist Writing Fellowship 2026 supports feminist writers, journalists, and creatives to explore narrative sovereignty and knowledge justice through a structured writing journey.

What it offers

• Participation in a two-day in-person writing retreat.
• Expert-led sessions on narrative sovereignty, feminist storytelling, knowledge justice, Pan-Africanism, and writing for advocacy.
• Mentorship from feminist scholars, writers, editors, and Pan-African practitioners.
• Editorial support to develop publication-ready pieces.
• Opportunities to have selected works published through Borderless Africa platforms and partner networks.
• Access to a network of feminist storytellers and advocates.

Who can apply

• Feminist writers, journalists, bloggers, researchers, poets, creative writers, community storytellers, human rights defenders, students, young activists, digital storytellers, and content creators.
• Applicants must demonstrate:
  • Interest in feminist issues and social justice.
  • Commitment to African unity, mobility, citizenship, or Pan-Africanism.
  • Passion for storytelling, writing, research, or advocacy.
  • Willingness to participate fully in the retreat and online learning sessions.

What you'll do

• Explore critical questions about whose knowledge and narratives are amplified.
• Develop writing projects related to narrative sovereignty, feminist knowledge production, free movement, citizenship, cross-border identities, women and migration, border communities, Pan-Africanism, language, culture, digital storytelling, and feminist futures.
