Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship 2026

The Miles Morland Foundation Writing Scholarship supports writers of African heritage to develop a new book-length work.

What it offers

• A writing scholarship for writers born in Africa or with both parents born in Africa.

Who can apply

• Anyone writing in English who was born in Africa.
• Anyone writing in English whose both parents were born in Africa.

What you'll do

• Submit a 2,000 to 5,000-word piece as a Word document of work that has been published and offered for sale.
• Provide proof of publication and proof of sale.
• Submit a scan of an official document showing that you, or both of your parents, were born in Africa.
• Include a description of between 400 – 1,000 words about the new book you intend to write.
• Provide a brief bio of between 200 – 300 words.
• State how you heard about the Morland Writing Scholarships.
