International Project Grants in Multiple (2026)

AAUW’s International Project Grants fund community-based initiatives led by alumnae of the AAUW International Fellowship, supporting projects that advance gender equity for women and girls in their home countries.

What it offers

• Award ceiling: $10,000
• Grant term: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
• Funds must be kept in a dedicated project account.

Who can apply

• Individuals who identify as women.
• Must be an AAUW International Fellowship alumna who has completed the academic program and all fellowship reporting by June 30 of the application year.
• Must reside and implement the project in their home country for the duration of the grant.
• Must be the primary project director with full control over programmatic, budgetary, administrative, and editorial decisions.
• Must be a non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Excludes AAUW Board members, employees, consultants, interns, contract employees, review panelists, immediate family of the above, and previous recipients who did not complete reporting.

What you'll do

• Design and implement a project that advances equity for women and girls and directly benefits these groups.
• Submit a narrative project proposal and supporting budget, including:
  • Abstract
  • Rationale (need statement)
  • Description of community
  • Project description
  • Community partners
  • Project evaluation
• Ensure project activities and outputs align with goals and include community/stakeholder participation.
• Incorporate monitoring/evaluation methods to assess outcomes.
• Use funds only for approved project costs within the grant term; prohibited costs include salaries, tuition, fundraising, lobbying, and infrastructure projects.

• Submit applications via the ISTS portal during September 16, 2024 – November 22, 2024.

• Applications are reviewed by panels of scholars and experts; AAUW’s Fellowships & Grants Team checks eligibility first.

Good to know

• Award status notifications will be sent by April 15, 2025.
• Disbursement of funds occurs in July 2025.
• Interim project reports (if applicable) are due December 15, 2025.
• Impact reports are due July 31, 2026.
• Grantees are responsible for their own tax obligations; AAUW does not withhold taxes or provide tax forms.
• Grant funds cannot be used for costs incurred before the start date or after the end date without prior approval.
