IFRA-Nigeria Research Grants 2027

IFRA-Nigeria research grants 2027 support humanities and social sciences research across nine West African countries (Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Chad, Togo). Open to second-year master’s students, doctoral, and postdoctoral researchers, the grants fund individual or collective projects with a maximum budget of €1,000 for January–October 2027, including fieldwork or archive stays.

Who can apply

• Projects must align with IFRA-Nigeria’s research axes:
  • Beliefs, bodies, and health
  • Citizenship, gender, and mobilisation
  • Heritage dynamics and environment
  • Digital Humanities (transversal).

What you'll do

• Conduct research in humanities/social sciences within eligible countries.
• Engage in fieldwork, archive visits, or institutional partnerships.
• Submit a valorisation plan (publications, oral communications) linked to IFRA-Nigeria’s activities.

1. Prepare four documents (cover letter, CV, budget, project description) using provided templates.
2. Combine them into a single PDF (Arial 12, max 4 pages for project + bibliography).
