The NRF/SARAO Graduate In-Training Programme 2027 offers recent Engineering and Science-Honours Graduates a 3-year hands-on training opportunity in radio astronomy and related fields at South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) sites. This program provides mentorship, project involvement, skill development, and networking to bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications in engineering, data science, software development, and project management. Graduates may also receive financial support for a part-time Master’s degree registration while participating.
Who can apply? The program is open to South African citizens who have completed or are in their final year of studies in specific engineering, science, or technology honours degrees, including Software, Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Cybersecurity, and related fields.
What you'll do: Participants will work on SARAO’s ongoing projects, gain mentorship, attend workshops, and contribute to cutting-edge research and technology initiatives across SARAO’s offices in Cape Town, Karoo Support Base, Klerefontein, and Hartebeesthoek.
