PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Pharmaceutical Technologist role based in Kajiado Town, Kenya, focusing on accurate dispensing, stock management, and patient counselling.

What you'll do

• Receive, verify, and dispense prescriptions accurately and within approved standards and procedures.
• Verify drug names, strengths, quantities, batch numbers, and expiry dates before dispensing.
• Conduct regular stock-taking and physical inventory counts of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies.
• Reconcile physical stock against system/bin-card records and promptly report any variances.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records, including receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, expiries, losses, and damages.
• Monitor stock levels and initiate timely requisitions to prevent stock-outs, overstocking, and wastage.
• Identify and report slow-moving, expired, damaged, or near-expiry medicines and ensure appropriate action is taken.
• Compound extemporaneous preparations and prepare or mix intravenous medications in accordance with approved procedures.
• Counsel patients on proper medication use, dosage, adherence, side effects, and the use of relevant devices.
• Deliver discharge medications to patients in the wards where applicable and ensure proper documentation.
• Communicate out-of-stock and non-stock items promptly.
