Senior Backend Engineer (NodeJS)

Helium Health is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to design and build web applications that support healthcare professionals and organizations across Africa using Vue.js and React.

Who can apply

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Vue.js and React
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and modern web standards
• Experience with modern styling approaches such as CSS Modules, Sass/SCSS, PostCSS, Tailwind CSS, Styled Components, or equivalent
• Experience with vibe coding and coordinating vibecoding sessions
• Strong understanding of frontend state management and REST APIs
• Experience with frontend performance optimization, including rendering performance, bundle optimization, lazy loading, caching, and code splitting
• Ability to use AI tools responsibly for development tasks
• Experience writing and maintaining unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
• Experience with modern frontend build tools such as Vite, Webpack, and package managers (npm/pnpm/yarn)
• Strong experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
• Good understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) and cross-browser compatibility
• Exposure to integrating AI-powered features or APIs is an advantage

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-quality frontend applications using Vue.js and React
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, QA Engineers, and other stakeholders
• Build reusable, maintainable, and well-tested UI components and frontend architecture
• Contribute to frontend technical architecture, design decisions, coding standards, and engineering best practices
• Integrate frontend applications with RESTful APIs and other backend services
• Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code with appropriate tests
• Identify and resolve performance, usability, scalability, and reliability issues
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
• Contribute to technical planning, estimation, sprint planning, and delivery of engineering initiatives
• Help establish and improve frontend development standards, tooling, testing strategies, and CI/CD processes
• Leverage AI tools to improve development efficiency, debugging, testing, documentation, and code quality
