Sasol Mining Fence-line Bursary Programme 2026 for South African Engineering Students

Sasol Mining’s Fence-line Bursary Programme funds full-time undergraduate engineering degrees at South African universities for students from Sasol Mining fence-line communities.

What it offers

• Registration and tuition fees (no repeat-module payments)
• Pocket money, meal allowance, and accommodation allowance (equal to the average university residence rate)
• A once-off computer and calculator allowance
• Work opportunities with a work-back/pay-back obligation
• Development opportunities such as vacation work after 2nd and 3rd years
• Psycho-social support (workshops, EAP)
• Payments made twice yearly (first and second semesters)

Who can apply

• South African citizens by birth only
• Residents of Sasol Mining fence-line communities
• Currently in 1st to 4th year of full-time B.Eng./B.Sc.Eng. or B.Eng.Tech. degrees at a public South African university (UNISA excluded)
• Eligible disciplines: Electrical, Electronic, Geology (Honours mandatory), Industrial, Mechanical, Mining Engineering, and Mine Surveying (University of Johannesburg only)

What you'll do

• Study full-time toward a designated engineering degree
• Meet annual academic progression requirements
• Participate in work opportunities and development programmes as required

Good to know

• Only one application per student is allowed
• Bursaries are conditional on maintaining equivalent academic performance
• Fraudulent information may lead to immediate withdrawal of the bursary
• Incomplete or late applications will not be considered
