Rwanda Plumbing and Mechanical Engineer (Fixed-Term)

One Acre Fund is hiring a fixed-term Mechanical/Plumbing Engineer to oversee building services for seed-processing facilities in Rwanda.⁠​​‌‌‌‌‌‌‌​‌​​‌​‌​‌​​​​‌​‌‌​​‌‌​​⁠

Who can apply

• Eligibility: Only citizens or permanent residents of Rwanda
• Experience: 7 years in mechanical/building services engineering with design and construction oversight
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related field
• Registration: Professional registration with the Institution of Engineers Rwanda is an added advantage
• Skills: Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP) and strong knowledge of mechanical and plumbing systems
• Languages: Strong communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda; French is an added advantage

What you'll do

• Lead technical design review and engineering oversight for plumbing, HVAC/ventilation, fire protection, and water systems
• Provide technical guidance, resolve design gaps, and approve contractor submissions
• Supervise installation of mechanical and plumbing systems across buildings and external infrastructure
• Conduct site inspections and oversee testing and commissioning
• Enforce quality standards and ensure adherence to safety procedures
• Coordinate with civil, structural, architectural, and electrical teams
• Resolve on-site engineering challenges and document lessons learned
• Provide technical guidance to contractor teams and support development of technical documentation
• Contribute to team development and supervise junior engineering staff
