The 2026/2027 Higher Education Funding portal is now open for first-time applicants seeking loans, bursaries, and scholarships under Kenya’s Student Centred Funding Model (SCFM).

What it offers

• Funding combines scholarships, loans (tuition and upkeep), and household contributions on a graduated scale based on assessed need.

Who can apply

• First-time applicants for both Undergraduate and TVET programmes.
• Requires an official admission letter from a university or TVET institution.

What you'll do

• Submit an application via the Higher Education Funding portal.

How to apply

• Provide:
  • Valid email and telephone number
  • KCPE and KCSE index numbers and year of examination
  • Passport-size photo (jpeg/jpg/png)
  • National ID/Maisha Card (both sides in PDF)
  • Bank details or MPESA number (registered under applicant’s name and ID)
  • Parents’ National ID and telephone number
  • Death certificate (if parent deceased)
  • Birth certificate (if applying as a minor)
  • Two guarantors’ ID numbers and telephone numbers
  • Sponsorship letter (if sponsored in secondary school)
