GMHAC2027 Event Scholarships support African mental health professionals and students who need financial help to attend the Global Mental Health Action Conference in 2027.

What it offers

  • Conference registration fee
  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation
  • Other costs (specify in application)

Who can apply

• Early career researchers in mental health research, practice, or policy
• Students (letter of support from institution or supervisor required)
• Persons with lived experience of mental health conditions or psychosocial disability
• Other applicants with a demonstrated connection to mental health in Africa (specify category in application)
• Priority given to applicants based in Africa for whom financial support is essential

What you'll do

• Attend #GMHAC2027 and engage with the mental health community

How to apply

Applications are completed online and require:

• Personal details (name, email, phone number, country of residence, institution/organisation, current role)
• Motivation statement (maximum 300 words) – why you wish to attend and how it will impact your work
• Impact and contribution statement – how your work advances mental health research, policy, or services in Africa, and how it incorporates people with lived experience or community engagement
• Financial need statement (maximum 300 words) – why financial support is required
• CV or résumé
• Recommendation letter (required for student applicants; strongly encouraged for all other categories)
