AAUW International Fellowship for African Women in Engineering

AAUW International Project Grants provide funding for community-based initiatives led by alumnae of AAUW International Fellowships to advance gender equity for women and girls in their home countries.

What it offers

• Award ceiling of $10,000
• Grant term runs July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
• Funds must be kept in a dedicated project account

Who can apply

• Individuals who identify as women
• Must be an AAUW International Fellowship alumna who completed the academic program and all reporting by June 30 of the application year
• Must reside and implement the project in their home country for the duration of the grant
• Must be the primary project director with full control over programmatic, budgetary, administrative, and editorial decisions
• Non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents only

What you'll do

• Design and deliver a project that advances equity for women and girls
• Ensure community/stakeholder participation in project design
• Incorporate monitoring and evaluation methods to assess outcomes
• Submit an interim project report by December 15, 2025
• Submit a final impact report by July 31, 2026

How to apply

• Submit through the International Scholarship & Tuition Services (ISTS) portal
• Use program key: AAUW-IPG
• Required components:
  • Narrative project proposal (abstract, rationale, community description, project description, community partners, project evaluation)
  • Itemized project budget with budget narrative
• Application period: September 16, 2024 – November 22, 2024
• Award notifications by April 15, 2025
• Disbursement of funds in July 2025

Good to know

• Grant funds cannot be used for salaries, stipends, tuition, political activities, fundraising, or infrastructure projects
• Grantees are responsible for determining any home country tax obligations
• AAUW does not provide tax forms or withhold U.S. taxes
