UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize 2026 for Environmental Conservation

The UNESCO Sultan Qaboos Prize 2026 recognizes outstanding contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

What it offers

• A financial award of US$100,000

• Presentation during the World Science Forum in November 2026

Who can apply

• Individuals, groups, institutes, or organizations
• Nominations must be submitted by governments or non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO; self-nominations are not accepted

What you'll do

• Contribute to one of the following fields:
  • Environmental and natural resources research
  • Environmental education and training
  • Creation of environmental awareness through the preparation of environmental information materials
  • Establishment and management of protected areas, such as biosphere reserves and natural World Heritage sites

How to apply

• Submit a completed nomination form
• Include a written recommendation
• Provide the names of three independent referees familiar with the candidate’s work
• Send submissions to the Secretariat of the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme at [email protected]
• Deadline for nominations: 15 June 2026
