Fully Funded KAS-SAIIA Scholarship in South Africa 2027

The KAS-SAIIA Scholarship funds a year-long, full-time internship in South Africa that combines a funded master’s degree with work at a leading policy institute.

What it offers

• Full bursary for tuition fees
• Monthly stipend to cover living costs and accommodation
• Internship runs from 1 February to 30 November each year

Who can apply

• Prospective students applying to a master’s degree in International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law, Journalism, or related humanities and social sciences
• Applicants must meet the entry requirements for a master’s degree at the relevant university
• Applicants must not be older than 30 years
• Students who have already completed the first year of their master’s programme are not eligible

What you'll do

• Enrol in a master’s degree with coursework while working at SAIIA
• Work at either the Johannesburg or Cape Town office of SAIIA
• Be assigned to mentors and supported in methodological, research, and writing skills
• Co-author articles in SAIIA publications
• Improve presentation and organisational skills
