The Africa-Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) Scholars Programme 2026/2027 for African Scholars

The AEIP Scholars Programme 2026–2027 funds collaborative research between African and European scholars, selecting ten participants to form five Africa–Europe pairs that co-develop solution-oriented outputs and compete for a June 2027 showcase in Europe.

What it offers

• Ten scholars (five Africa–Europe pairs) receive funding to co-create solution-based research outputs.
• The top three pairs are invited to present at the AEIP Stakeholder Meeting in Europe in June 2027, with travel sponsored.

Who can apply

• Applicants must be aged between 25 and 35.
• Must be based in Africa or Europe.
• Must be enrolled in a PhD, Post-Doc, or further studies at the time of application.
• Must have ongoing or completed research aligned with the AU-EU Innovation Agenda Capacities for Science action.

What you'll do

• Submit an abstract of your research.
• If shortlisted, you will be paired 1:1 with a scholar from the other continent based on shared or complementary themes.
• Collaborate to design a practical, solution-oriented innovation addressing challenges relevant to both Africa and Europe.
• Develop a joint research output and participate in a pitching process.
• Finalist pairs present their work at the AEIP Stakeholder Meeting in June 2027.
