The Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) offers a bursary for students pursuing Chartered Accountancy studies at SAICA-accredited universities in South Africa.

What it offers

• Covers tuition fees, university accommodation, meals and books.
• Requires bursary holders to serve articles/training contract with AGSA after graduation.

Who can apply

• Only South African citizens.
• Must be studying or intending to study towards a Chartered Accountant qualification (e.g., BCom Accounting CA stream, Bachelor of Accounting CA stream, BCompt).
• Must be enrolled or accepted at a SAICA-accredited university for full-time studies.

How to apply

• Register your profile before applying.
• Attach required documents based on your study year:
  • Matric applicants: Copy of ID, Grade 11 year-end results, university acceptance letter, Grade 12 mid-year results.
  • 1st year applicants: Copy of ID, Matric results, academic record.
  • 2nd year applicants: Copy of ID, full academic record.
  • Final year applicants: Copy of ID, full academic record, acceptance letter into CTA program.
• Upload documents in PDF format, not exceeding 2MB.

Good to know

• Applications open in August each year for the upcoming academic year.
• If requested academic results are unavailable, apply with the highest completed academic record.
• The system will delete uploaded documents if they exceed the size limit or if a mistake is made; you must re-upload them.
