SAADP Bursary Programme for South Africans

The SAADP Bursary Programme supports South African students pursuing actuarial science at Wits, UP, or UCT with full tuition, residence, meals, study materials, mentorship, and professional development.

Who can apply

• South African citizens only
• Students in Grade 12 or already at university
• 80%+ in Mathematics
• Interest in studying actuarial science
• Financial need
• Plan to study at Wits, UP, or UCT

How to apply

Apply in three steps:

1. Create Your Profile – Register and complete the online application.
2. Complete Application – Fill in the online form fully.
3. Upload Documents – Submit:
   • Certified ID copy
   • Grade 11 final and Grade 12 June reports
   • Certified parent ID copy
   • Proof of income
   • University conditional acceptance (Actuarial Science)
   • All documents must be clear and legible, in PDF, JPG, or PNG format

Good to know

• Applications open in September and close between October and December.
• Current Actuarial Science students in their first, second, or third year can apply.
• The bursary is renewable pending satisfactory academic performance.
• Successful applicants are notified via the application portal and email.
• SAADP does not support non-South African students.
• Students who fail major modules may lose their living allowance, but tuition, residence, books, and meals are typically retained.
• No repayment or work-back obligation is required; recipients are encouraged to contribute to SAADP initiatives supporting younger students.
