Africa Healthcare Innovation Fellowship (AHIF)

The Africa Healthcare Innovation Fellowship (AHIF) 2026 equips young African professionals to design and scale healthcare solutions through a 14-week, field-based program.

What it offers

• Hands-on experience designing and validating healthcare solutions within real-world health systems
• Core innovation, systems, and decision-making competencies for health transformation
• Structured cross-country and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Guidance from experienced professionals across health, policy, and innovation ecosystems
• Official certification in digital health innovation recognized across the continent

Who can apply

• Citizens of an African country currently residing on the continent
• Aged 18–35 at the time of application
• Background or demonstrated experience in healthcare, public health, digital health, technology, or innovation
• Strong interest in healthcare innovation and digital transformation
• Ability to commit to the full 14-week fellowship duration

What you'll do

• 14-week fellowship running from May to July 2026
• Six phases combining virtual learning and on-site field experiences:
  • Phase 1: Orientation & Foundational Learning (Virtual)
  • Phase 2: Problem Discovery (On-site)
  • Phase 3: Problem Validation & Capacity Building (Virtual)
  • Phase 4: Prototyping Lab (On-site)
  • Phase 5: Field Pilot (On-site)
  • Phase 6: Demo Day (Virtual)

Good to know
