UNHCR Tertiary Refugee Scholarship Programme (DAFI) 2026/27

UNHCR’s DAFI scholarship in Rwanda funds refugee and asylum-seeker students to complete an undergraduate degree or an accredited two-year TVET diploma in Rwanda.

What it offers

• Covers tuition, study materials, food, transportation, and accommodation
• Supports ISCED level 6 bachelor’s degrees and ISCED level 5 accredited TVET programmes of two years or more
• Does not cover master’s degree programmes

Who can apply

• Recognized refugees or asylum seekers living in Rwanda
• Applicants who have been accepted to a university in Rwanda
• Priority given to those with excellent academic performance
• Only one family member per household may apply
• Applicants currently on another higher-education scholarship are ineligible
• Applicants confirmed for resettlement to a third country are ineligible
• Female applicants and persons with special needs education are strongly encouraged

How to apply

• Submit the application through the DAFI online form at Rwanda 2026 DAFI Call for applications
• Required documents:
  • UNHCR proof of registration
  • Official/certified copy of high-school diploma
  • University admission letter or proof of acceptance
  • Equivalence certificate from the Ministry of Education of the country of asylum
• Applications open 15 July 2026 and close 7 August 2026; late applications are not considered
