Legal Officer

United Capital Plc is seeking a Legal Officer to provide legal and company secretarial support across its business units, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and maintaining corporate governance standards.

What it offers

• Full-time position in the Legal and Company Secretariat Department
• Reports to the Head, Legal Services
• Based in Lagos, Nigeria

Who can apply

• Qualification: LL.B. from a recognised university and B.L. from the Nigerian Law School
• Professional requirement: Qualified to practise as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria
• Work experience: 1-2 years’ post-call experience, preferably in a reputable law firm or financial services organisation

What you'll do

• Draft and review contracts, agreements, and legal documents under supervision
• Provide day-to-day legal support to business units and support functions
• Conduct legal research and prepare advisory notes on regulatory, corporate, and commercial matters
• Maintain legal records, including contract databases, litigation trackers, and statutory registers
• Prepare Board and Committee papers, draft resolutions, and make regulatory filings
• Monitor contractual obligations, milestones, and renewal dates
• Liaise with external solicitors, regulators, and stakeholders
