Canon Collins Trust Tom Queba and Pegasys Scholarships 2027 for Social Change

Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the Tom Queba Memorial Fund and Pegasys, offers scholarships for Honours and Masters study at South African universities in 2027.

What it offers

• Funding of R85,000 for up to two years of study.
• Support for both full-time and part-time study, including distance learning.
• Participation in an annual conference and smaller events to enhance academic and leadership skills.

Who can apply

• You must be a black or coloured South African national residing in South Africa.
• You must be under 34 years of age at the commencement of your course.
• You must hold a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or be about to graduate in the year of application.
• You must be studying or applying to study at Honours or Masters level at a South African university.

How to apply

• Submit a short online application by 14 August 2026 at 16:00 SAST.
• Required supporting documents include:
  • Copy of degree certificates, if available
  • All academic transcripts
  • ID document (passport, birth certificate, or driver’s licence)
• Successful applicants will be invited to submit a more detailed application in September 2026.
• Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview in October/November 2026.
• All applicants will be notified of the outcome by mid-December 2026.

Good to know

• The use of artificial intelligence tools to generate, edit, or assist with any part of the application is strictly prohibited.
• Late applications will not be accepted.
• The scholarship aims to support study that contributes directly to social and/or environmental development, particularly benefiting the poorest people in South Africa.
• Scholarships are awarded in the areas of Justice, Education, Humanities and the Arts, and Sciences and Applied Sciences.
