Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund Bursary 2027

The Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund (LPFF) offers bursaries to law students in South Africa who meet specific eligibility criteria.

What it offers

• Covers only tuition fees for eligible programmes.

Who can apply

• Students in their second year of an LLB at a public South African university.
• Students in their third year of an LLB requiring funding for the final year.
• Students who have completed a BA/BCom degree and are transitioning to complete the last two years of an LLB.
• Students in their third year of an extended LLB programme applying for the fourth and fifth years.
• Foreign applicants must have permanent residence in South Africa and meet minimum academic requirements.

What you'll do

• Maintain an average mark exceeding 50% on your latest academic results.

How to apply

• Register a profile on the LPFF Student Portal using:
  • A working email address
  • A valid ID number or passport number
  • Your cell phone number
• Submit the following documents:
  • Digital photo
  • Certified ID copy or passport
  • Certified copy of permanent residence (if applicable)
  • Recent academic transcript
  • Testimonial letter from the university
  • Proof of employment/payslip (if employed)
• Applications are strictly online and must be submitted via the Student Portal.
• Applications open on 1 April annually and close on 15 August at midnight annually.
• You can save your draft application and complete it later.
• You can cancel your draft application if needed.

Good to know

• The bursary is available for 1 or 2 years only.
• You must be studying at a public South African university.
• LLM or further studies in law bursaries are available for practicing attorneys or candidate attorneys who have completed their LLB and are employed at a legal practicing firm.
