ASSET Bursary Programme 2027

The ASSET Bursary Programme offers financial support to South African learners in the Western Cape who are pursuing higher education at public universities or universities of technology.

What it offers

• Awards are variable and cover a percentage of tuition, registration, and books.
• Funds are paid directly to the tertiary institution.
• Bursaries are not repayable.

Who can apply

• Only South African citizens who are resident in the Western Cape are eligible.
• Applicants must be in Grade 12 and intend to study for a first degree, diploma, or higher certificate.
• You must meet the entry requirements for your chosen field of study.

How to apply

• Download and complete the application form from the ASSET website or collect a hard copy from 5 Long Street, Mowbray 7700, Cape Town.
• Submit certified copies of all available supporting documents with your application.
• Application forms will not be accepted through fax.
• Hard copies of application forms are available from 1 July each year and can be collected or posted on request.
• The closing date for bursary applications is 30 September.

Good to know

• Only successful candidates will be notified, typically by the end of February.
• Awards are decided by a Selection Committee meeting in late January, based on merit and financial need.
• Priority is given to students who are financially needy and from less advantaged communities.
• Applications are only accepted for public universities or universities of technology in the Western Cape.
