Next Generation Investigative Journalism Fellowship 2026 in Ghana

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is inviting Ghanaian journalism graduates, early-career journalists, and young professionals passionate about journalism to apply for the 9th edition of the Next Generation Investigative Journalism (NGIJ) Fellowship.

What it offers

• A three-month, fully funded residential program for 10 selected journalists/young professionals.
• Hands-on training in investigative journalism, use of the Right to Information Law, Data Journalism, and Fact Checking.
• Mentorship and practical training with MFWA’s Independent Journalism Projects: Fact-Check Ghana and The Fourth Estate.
• Financial and editorial support to produce at least one key investigative/in-depth story and contribute to a group story.
• A Certificate of Honour upon successful completion.
• A monthly stipend.

Who can apply

• Journalism graduates, early-career journalists, and young professionals with a passion for journalism.
• Applicants must commit to full participation in the residential program from September to November 2026.
• Females and journalists outside the Greater Accra Region are encouraged to apply.

• Motivation letter (Max. 400 words) explaining why you want to join the fellowship.
• Two published news articles (print, TV, radio, or online) for journalists or a published blog post for other professionals.
• Letter of consent from your employer (for staff journalists).
• CV with two referees.
