Appel de recherche multilatéral ICSRS-STISA 2034

The Science Granting Council Initiative (SGCI) invites Expressions of Interest for collaborative, multi-country research projects aligned with Africa’s Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2034 (STISA-2034).

What it offers

• Grants ranging from CAD $50,000 to CAD $300,000 per successful consortium member, with amounts varying by country-specific funding limits.
• Project duration capped at 36 months, covering research activities and final reporting.

Who can apply

• A consortium led by one lead applicant institution and including at least two co-applicant institutions.
• All institutions must be from participating SGCI countries (see Annex 1).
• Eligible institutions include public research organizations, public and private universities, and governmental research organizations.
• A maximum of five co-applicant institutions, with no more than one from any single country.

What you'll do

• Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for a collaborative, multi-country research project supporting STISA-2034 priority sectors.
• If successful, invited to submit a full technical proposal reviewed by an independent peer-review committee.

• Applications must be submitted in English, French, or Portuguese.
• Submit by September 25, 2026 at 23:59 EDT; late applications will not be considered.
• The lead applicant organization submits a single application on behalf of the consortium.
• Assemble all required supporting documentation before accessing the online portal.
• Click ‘Apply’ to complete the online application.

Good to know

• Only EOIs demonstrating relevance to thematic priorities will proceed to the full proposal stage.
• The principal investigator may submit only one proposal as lead but may participate as co-applicant in others.
