Hoop Telecoms is recruiting a Senior Fiber Backhaul Engineer to design, deploy and maintain its backbone fiber network in Lagos, Nigeria.

Who can apply

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of intensive, hands-on experience in fiber optic network engineering, particularly in a backbone or backhaul environment.
• Professional certifications in fiber optics or network design (e.g., FOA-certified technician or similar) are highly preferred.

What you'll do

• Lead architectural planning of fiber backhaul routes with optimal path redundancy and adherence to industry standards.
• Diagnose and resolve severe signal degradation or physical fiber breaks using advanced diagnostic tools like OTDR and fusion splicers.
• Manage end-to-end execution of large-scale fiber expansion projects from route surveying and permit acquisition to final commissioning and documentation.
• Supervise third-party civil works and fiber contractors to ensure installations meet company quality and safety specifications.
• Analyze fiber usage trends and plan strategic upgrades to prevent network bottlenecks.
• Mentor and train Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineers on splicing, testing, and safety protocols.
