2026 TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry for Chemist

The 2026 TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry recognizes outstanding chemists from science-and-technology lagging countries (STLCs) with a monetary prize and international visibility.

What it offers

• Award value of $5,000.

Who can apply

• Open to chemists not older than 45.
• Must be a national of a science-and-technology lagging country (STLC).
• Must have been living and working in an eligible STLC for at least two years immediately prior to nomination.
• Self-nominations and nominations from jury members are not accepted.
• Previous winners of a TWAS-named Award are not eligible for a different TWAS-named Award in the same year.
• TWAS Fellows are not eligible.

How to apply

• Nominations must be submitted electronically via the online platform.
• Nominators can be TWAS members, science academies, national research councils, universities, or scientific institutions.
• Required materials include:
  • Nominator and nominee contact details.
  • Authorization from the nominee to process personal data.
  • A 15–20 word citation highlighting scientific achievements.
  • A supporting statement (max 10,000 characters) detailing the nominee’s contributions and scientific impact.
  • A forward-looking project proposal (max 10,000 characters).
  • Information on time spent abroad in the past two years.
  • PhD details (subject, year, institution).
  • Memberships, awards, and a list of 10 most significant publications.
  • Nominee’s CV and full publication list.
  • H-index and citation count from Google Scholar.
• The deadline for nominations is 30 June 2026.
