The 2026 TWAS-Atta-ur-Rahman Award in Chemistry recognizes outstanding chemists from science-and-technology lagging countries.

Who can apply

• Chemists not older than 45
• Nationals of a science-and-technology lagging country (STLC)
• Must have been living and working in an eligible country for at least two years immediately prior to nomination
• All fields of chemistry are eligible
• Individuals who have previously won a TWAS-named Award are not eligible
• Self-nominations and nominations from jury members are not accepted
• TWAS Fellows are not eligible
• The same nominee cannot be nominated for more than one TWAS Fellows Award in a given year

How to apply

• Nominations must be submitted electronically via the online platform
• Nominations are accepted from TWAS members, science academies, national research councils, universities, and scientific institutions
• A nomination is complete only if it includes:
  • Nominator and nominee contact details
  • Authorization from the nominee to process personal data
  • Suggested citation (15–20 words)
  • Supporting statement on the nominee’s contributions (max 10,000 characters)
  • Forward-looking project plan (max 10,000 characters)
  • Account of time spent abroad in the past two years
  • PhD information (subject, year, institution)
  • Memberships, awards, honours, publications, CV, h-index, and citation count
• Deadline: 30 June 2026
