The IOC Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) 2027 PhD Students and Early Career Academics Research Grant Programme supports scholars researching the Olympic Movement, its history, athletes, Games, and societal impact.

What it offers

• A maximum research grant of USD 6,000, determined by the Selection Committee.
• Coverage for:
  • Travel (economy class) and living expenses linked to Lausanne visits.
  • Translation of essential research materials.
  • Web hosting, software, data collection costs (e.g., workshops, focus groups).
  • Knowledge mobilization expenses (e.g., publication fees, conferences, podcasts, blogs) up to USD 1,500.

Who can apply

• Current PhD students enrolled in humanities or social sciences with a focus on Olympism, the Olympic Movement, or the Olympic Games.
• Academic staff and postdoctoral fellows who completed their highest degree (including master’s, depending on the field) in or after 2024.

• Submit applications and supporting documents in French or English.
• Required documents:
  • Completed official application form.
  • Proof of registration (PhD enrolment or university appointment) on institutional letterhead.
  • Letter of recommendation from supervisor (PhD students) or mentor (early career academics), signed and on institutional letterhead.
