Addressing Neglected Areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in sub-Saharan Africa (ANeSA)

Addressing Neglected Areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in sub-Saharan Africa (ANeSA) is a new grant initiative co-funded by IDRC, GAC and CIHR to support implementation research on under-served SRHR populations across sub-Saharan Africa.

What it offers

• Grants of up to CAD 1.2 million per successful application
• Up to six new Implementation Research Teams will be funded in this second cohort
• Up to 12 teams invited to the full-proposal stage will each receive a CAD 50,000 proposal development award for a three-month period to prepare their full proposal

Who can apply

• Principal Applicants must be affiliated with organizations based in eligible sub-Saharan African countries (list includes Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo (Brazzaville), Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Eswatini, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe)
• Applications from some countries may require an additional internal approval stage within IDRC

How to apply

• Two-stage process: first submit a Letter of Interest (LoI) with required supporting documents
• Successful LoI-stage applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, implementation plan, budget, timeline and a high-quality situation analysis suitable for publication
• LoIs and full proposals will be evaluated against core design elements including participatory approaches and alignment with ANeSA’s five priority areas
