FCI4Africa Open Call 1 funds short feasibility or validation projects that align with the programme’s food-convergence innovation goals.

What it offers

• €400,000 total budget for Open Call 1.
• Up to €50,000 per single applicant.
• 8 sub-projects will be selected for funding.

Who can apply

• Single applicants only (no consortia).
• Research and technology stakeholders, including:
  • universities and research institutes
  • technology developers and R&D SMEs
  • innovation-driven start-ups
  • other multidisciplinary actors

What you'll do

• Contribute to one of two objectives:
  1. Test, validate, and enhance existing business concepts and tools.
  2. Develop new ideas and tools addressing specific FCI4Africa challenges.
• Generate datasets that refine tools, methodologies, and business concepts.
• Complete three implementation phases:
  • Phase 1 – Design (3 months, deliverable: activity plan)
  • Phase 2 – Development (6 months, deliverable: results demonstration)
  • Phase 3 – Validation (3 months, deliverable: report on dissemination activities & lessons learnt)
