MEST AI Startup Program (Class of 2027) for Young African Entrepreneurs

The MEST AI Startup Program (Class of 2027) is a fully-sponsored, residential fellowship in Accra, Ghana for entrepreneurs from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Kenya who want to build AI startups.

What it offers

• Fully-sponsored program with no fees paid to MEST
• Flight to Ghana covered for admitted participants
• Healthcare access during the program
• Up to 12 months total:
  • 7-month in-person training phase
  • 4-month incubation phase for selected ventures
• Opportunity to pitch for up to $100,000 in pre-seed investment

Who can apply

• Citizens of Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, or Kenya
• Age 21–35
• Bachelor’s degree, diploma, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated software development experience
• Basic understanding of AI
• Strong interest in entrepreneurship
• Willing to commit full-time for up to 12 months and pursue entrepreneurship afterward
• Able to travel at own cost to Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, or Kenya for in-person interviews if shortlisted

What you'll do

• Commit full-time to the residential program in Accra, Ghana
• Participate in up to 7 months of in-person training
• For selected ventures, participate in an additional 4 months of incubation
• Form teams and validate AI business ideas
• Build and deploy an AI minimum viable product (MVP)
• Complete the required assessment as part of the application process
